I have and use all the product from this line a really like them. However, this shampoo is too harsh on my hair. It takes all the nutrients out my hair (like shampoo made for non natural hair users). I used it twice, and my scalp is really dry after using it. I followed Whitney for years, so I’ve been following her recipe to make my own shampoo from black soap for years. So I don’t what was changed in this shampoo, but is horrible for my hair.

a lot of people are complaining that it strips your hair, but it says that it’s a clarifying shampoo so idk what you expect. i wouldn’t suggest using it everyday. i use it twice a week and it works fine.

I struggled with a lot buildup issues stemming from previous shampoos not cleansing enough, but after a few days of using this.... this stuff is amazing and has completely killed my buildup problems and has kept my curls defined!!

I have almost 6 year-old, waist-length, sisterlocks (700+ microlocs), 4c, high-porosity hair, living in a dry climate (avg 28% humidity). I bought the oil, shampoo, and conditioner. Yes I condition my locs. I hadn't found the right conditioner for my hair for quite some time. My hair sings when I use this glorious Melanin trio: shampoo, conditioner, and oil. My hair is soft for days! I kept saying 'Whose hair is this?' after the first time I used the holy Melanin trio. I could easily go for 3-7 days without washing despite living in a very dry climate because the Melanin trio makes locs in moisture like nothing else I've used before. The key is in the clarifying shampoo, I believeThis African black soap shampoo smells delicious, minty and rich like chocolate. It reminds me of using those clay washes Whitney showed us on Youtube back in the day! Yet this is much more more water soluble, easier to apply, and more effective than clay. The scent and feel of my hair while the shampoo tingles the scalp and deep cleans is wonderful. This clarifying shampoo really cleans the hair without leaving it stripped/damaged. African black soap is very nourishing, gentle, and clarifying.Then I use the conditioner. It is very light and washes out easily, exactly what I need for my locs. It too has a minty feelings. The hair easily absorbs the conditioner, and it truly softens the hair. I leave the conditioner in only for 3 minutes and then wash it out because I rarely need to deep condition my locs. Lastly I dry my hair and add more conditioner as a leave in, about two pumps full. Then I add the oil. The oil is my dear favorite of the trinity. This OIL!!! Yes, Queen! Let me testify. This oil right here is IT! It is the perfect light hair oil. This absorbs in the hair, sealing in moisture, without any greasy/oily fealing. My hair is weightless, soft, and smells edible (like a chocolate, mint ice cream) after using the trinity. The shampoo and conditioner have a delicious mint smell, and the oil has a more mild smell that reminds me of baby oil, a really nice scent combination after a shower. I feel very relaxed after the whole occasion, like a spa day.I wash my hair twice a week, and so far the large sized bottles for all three have been lasting me, mind you I have very long hair and lots of it. I'm happy with these products, and I will make this line my forever line. It's one of those lines where you hope they keep the secret formula locked away, unchanged for the test of time. I love it! Thank you Whitney, just what we needed!

I love the shampoo and I love the idea of tip for the the bottle to target the scalp. I just wish the plastic of the bottle was a little softer. I’m squeezing for dear life with slippery hands trying to get just a little bit of shampoo. I’m going to have to buy my own bottle and transfer the product because it’s pretty frustrating trying to get shampoo out of the current bottle.As for the shampoo its self? Fantastic highly recommend. My scalp is finally less flaky and my hair is more moisturized.
