HOW TO DRY YOUR NATURAL HAIR WITHOUT USING HEAT!

HOW TO DRY YOUR NATURAL HAIR WITHOUT USING HEAT!
Bye bye blow dryer! 👋🏾✌🏾

You’ve had a successful wash day and now you’re ready to dry your tresses. You want to keep those precious coils intact, but don’t want dripping wet hair! If this sounds like you and you’re looking to dry your hair without the potential damaging effects of heat, keep reading below!

1.T-shirt Drying👕
One of the simplest, yet effective ways to start the drying process on your hair after washing is using a t-shirt! In addition to the added benefits of using less heat, t-shirt drying keeps your curl pattern clumped, eliminates frizz and reduces breakage and knots. T-shirt drying is easy; all you need is an old tee - or better yet, grab The Melanin Haircare LUX T-Shirt Towel for an elevated wash day experience!

  1. Before stepping out of the shower, squeeze any excess water from your strands.

  2. Next, wrap your hair in the LUX T-Shirt Towel, or flip an old, clean t-shirt upside down and enter your head and hair through the neckline. The tips of your hair should be towards the bottom opening of your t-shirt.

  3. Squeeze any additional excess water into the t-shirt and wrap the remaining fabric at the nape of your neck.

  4. After 15-20 mins (or until your desired dryness) remove the t-shirt to reveal beautiful knot-free, frizz-free hair!

  5. Bonus** To keep the hair stretched and knot-free while sleeping, simply exchange the t-shirt, or LUX T-shirt Towel, with a smooth satin headwrap to keep the hair smooth, protected, and moisturized while it continues to dry throughout the night
2. Foam rollers
Looking to dry your hair while adding a little ✨razzle dazzle✨ in the process? Drying your hair with foam rollers will give your hair a bit of stretch without adding heat! 🙌🏾

  1. Starting on damp hair, part a medium sized section and wrap your hair around the foam roller in the direction of your choosing! Wrapping vertically will give you tight ringlets where wrapping horizontally will give you softer waves.

  2. Snap the clasp to keep the hair in place!

  3. Repeat this process until you have covered your entire head.

  4. Follow up with your favorite bonnet or satin scarf and take down in the morning.
3. Threading
Threading your hair is another simple, yet effective way to stretch your hair–and offers you a heatless blowout look!🙌🏾

  1.  Part a section of your hair and wrap a piece of smooth thread at the base of your hair about 5 times. This allows the thread to have an anchoring point.

  2. Once you have securely wrapped thread at the base of the part, wrap the thread around the length of your hair from root to tip.

  3. Unravel the thread in the morning to reveal a gorgeous blowout look without the heat!

4. Bantu knots
Who doesn’t love bantu knots?! This regal hairstyle can be sported during the day for a chic and trendy look and be worn overnight to beautifully dry your hair. Creating bantu knots is simple, and can be done on damp or dry hair!
  1. Part your hair in sections and place your hair in two-strand twists.

  2. Wrap your hair around itself at the root and tuck the ends of your hair underneath each knot. For those with a blunt cut, securing your ends with a bobby pin or gentle elastic will help keep the knots in place.

  3. Unravel your hair and style as desired!
For a less defined look, wrap your hair around itself without a two-strand twist.
